Iran transfers long-range missiles to Iraq in major escalation - report

Iraqi proxies received the missiles last week, according to the report, which contradicts earlier claims that the militias were willing to disarm after US placed pressure on the government in Baghdad

i24NEWS

Iran has sent long-range missiles to its proxies in Iraq for the first time, constituting a major escalation against the US and Israel, according to the British paper The Times.

This comes as US President Donald Trump is ramping up pressure by threatening military action against the Islamic Republic, all the while advocating for negotiations to find a diplomatic resolution to the Iranian nuclear program.

Citing intelligence sources who monitored the 1,000-mile border between Iraq and Iran, the paper said that the missiles were transferred last week.

"Iran has recently transferred missiles to Shia militias in Iraq, including new models with longer range, which have not been given in the past to those militias. It’s a desperate move by the Iranians, risking the stability of Iraq," one source said.

The US has pressured Iraq to force the Shi'ite militias in the country to disarm, with the recent development contradicting reports that the proxies had signalled they would cave in to the pressure.

After the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, the crippling offensives against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the defeat of Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran's regional network of proxies has run thin. Besides the Houthis in Yemen, the Iran-backed militias in Iraq are the only major ally Tehran has left against the US.

Trump renews call to relocate Gazans to other countries

There are “plenty” of countries willing to take in Gazans, said the U.S. president.

By David Isaac | Apr 8, 2025 at 9:45 am | Topics: Trump, Gaza

US President Donald Trump on Monday renewed his call to transfer to safer locales those Palestinians who wish to leave the Gaza Strip

For years and years, all I hear about is killing and Hamas and problems,” he said during a press gathering in the Oval Office on Monday together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“And if you take the people, the Palestinians, and move them around to different countries, and you have plenty of countries that will do that … you really have a freedom zone … a zone where people aren’t going to be killed every day,” he added.

The US president first announced his Gaza relocation plan during a press conference with Netanyahu in February.

Netanyahu, who has endorsed the plan, said on Monday that “what the president is talking about is: give people a choice. Gazans were closed in. Every other place, including arenas of battle, whether it’s Ukraine or Syria, or any other place, people could leave. What is wrong with giving people a choice? … Enabling the people of Gaza to really make a choice to go wherever they want?”

He noted that Gaza’s reconstruction would take years.

A senior Israeli diplomatic source told JNS on April 4 that polls showed that many Palestinians in Gaza want to leave.

Even before Israel restarted military action, 60% said they wanted to leave—40% of those don’t want to come back, and another 20% want to go but with the option to return. That’s more than 1 million people who say they want to leave,” said the source.

Israelis support the president’s proposal, according to polls.

The sticking point has appeared to be finding partner countries willing to take Gazans in. However, Netanyahu said on Monday that “countries are responding to [Trump’s] vision. We’re working on it. I hope we’ll have good news for you.”

Though he would not name the countries, Danny Danon, who returned to serve as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations in 2024, having previously held the post from 2015 to 2020, said in December 2023 that South American and African countries had expressed interest in taking in Palestinians in exchange for financial remuneration.

Arab countries should lend a hand, too, as they “have an obligation to help the Palestinians. Let them help instead of giving inflammatory speeches,” said Danon.

Arab countries have so far refused to lend a hand to Trump’s proposal, instead offering alternative reconstruction plans in which Gazans would stay in place.

US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, in an interview with Tucker Carlson in March, appeared to reject such reconstruction plans as unrealistic.

“I think it’s really important that when you’re making these decisions that you level-set the facts,” he said, pointing out that the conditions in the Strip are far too dangerous to live in.

How do we put people back in a battle zone where there are munitions all over the field? Or where there are these latent conditions so that a kid can fall into a hole and go 40, 50, 60 feet down, and you’d never know that he was there,” he added.

“Who would do such a thing? If we had buildings and those conditions in New York, there would be yellow tape all around it and no one would be allowed in,” said Witkoff, estimating it would take 15 to 20 years to rebuild Gaza.

He shared the president’s view that past policy prescriptions for Gaza hadn’t worked, perpetuating a cycle of war, rebuilding and more war. It didn’t make “any sense,” he said, adding, “The president began to say, ‘Maybe we need to think about it in a different way.’”

Negative record: Over half of US adults view Israel unfavorably, Pew survey finds

Survey looking at U.S. President Donald Trump’s foreign policy and global trade actions finds some 31% say he is favoring the Israelis too much and 29% say he is striking the right balance; in addition, most Americans do not think Trump will pursue a takeover of Gaza

Ynetnews|Yesterday | 18:32

More than half of U.S. adults, or 53%, have an unfavorable opinion of Israel, up from 42% in March 2022 – before the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023, and the ensuing Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted March 24-30 looking at U.S. President Donald Trump’s foreign policy and global trade actions.

The survey also found that Americans’ confidence in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also remains relatively low, at 32%.

U.S. President Donald Trump has so far received mixed or negative views from Americans regarding his early foreign policy actions, including his involvement with Israel and in trying to end the war with Gaza.

Other foreign policy actions surveyed include Trump's working more closely with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, withdrawing the U.S. from international agreements, his statements about taking over Greenland and Gaza and tariffs imposed on U.S. trade partners.

One example is that more Americans disapprove than approve of the U.S. leaving international organizations and agreements including the World Health Organization, the Paris Climate Agreement and cancelling most U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) programs

Some 43% of Americans says Trump is favoring Russia too much in his negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war, but when asked about their opinion on whether Trump is striking the right balance when it comes to U.S. relations with Israelis and Palestinians, opinions are more mixed.

Some 31% say they see him favoring the Israelis too much and 29% say he is striking the right balance. Another 3% say he is favoring the Palestinians too much. This leaves 37% who say that they are unsure.

For comparison, in July, views of how U.S. President Joe Biden was handling the conflict were more even with 21% saying he favored Israelis too much and 20 % saying he favored Palestinians too much, with another 18% saying he was striking the right balance and 40% unsure.

Meanwhile, most Americans do not think it’s likely Trump will pursue a takeover of Gaza.

Some 38% say it’s either not too or not at all likely, 26% say it’s somewhat likely, and 20% say it’s extremely or very likely. Another 16% are unsure.

Some 62% of Americans oppose the U.S. taking over Gaza, including 49% who strongly oppose it. Another 22% are unsure, while 15% favor it.

From the perspective of politics, Republicans are somewhat more likely than Democrats to say it is unlikely that Trump will try to take over Gaza, with Republicans at 43% and Democrats at 34%.

Republicans are also more likely than Democrats to be in favor of a U.S. takeover of Gaza at 27% to 5%, though a plurality of people in both parties oppose it. Some 44% of Republicans oppose the U.S. taking over Gaza, while another 28% are unsure. Democrats are fairly united in their opposition, with 80% saying they oppose the measure, including 72% who strongly oppose it.

On Monday, speaking to reporters before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump described the Gaza Strip as “a tremendous piece of real estate” and said the U.S. still plans to take control of the territory. “It’s a great place. I don’t understand why Israel gave it up,” he said in remarks from the White House.

The survey was conducted from March 24 to March 30. A total of 3,605 panelists responded out of 4,045 who were sampled, for a survey-level response rate of 89%. The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 3,605 respondents is plus or minus 1.9 percentage points.

The survey includes oversample of Jewish, Muslim and non-Hispanic Asian adults in order to provide more precise estimates of the opinions and experiences of these smaller demographic subgroups. These oversampled groups are weighted back to reflect their correct proportions in the population.

The Vatican’s Embrace of Sex Change Mutilation Suggests We’re at a Maccabees Moment

By John Zmirak Published on April 8, 2025

You might not have read the Book of Maccabees. (Catholics and Orthodox regard it as canonical while Protestants and Jews mostly consider it simply an inspiring, accurate history of God’s people enduring corruption and persecution.)

But the Lutheran George Frederick Handel thought the story important enough to compose a beautiful oratorio retelling it, Judas Maccabeus. The Jewish holiday of Channukah has its origins in the events recounted in Maccabees — commemorating the rededication of the Temple after pagans had profaned it.

Maccabees is certainly worth a read for Christians today trying to navigate a path between an overbearing, increasingly intolerant secular culture and Church leaders who dither, waver, or even seem to be on the side of the Enemy. (I’m focusing here on my own Roman Catholic Church, but as you read this, think of all the rainbow-flagged, “affirming” pastors and churches in your own tradition, some of which you might once have trusted.)

Those Oiled, Muscular Seductive Greeks

In Maccabees, we see the plight of the Jewish people under foreign occupationthis time not the cruel Assyrians or the tolerant Persians, but the glittering, sophisticated, and above all seductive Greeks. After Alexander the Great destroyed the Persian Empire in 323 B.C., fought his way to India, then died at age 33, his generals split up the new empire he’d founded among themselves, squabbling over its component parts for the next century. The section that included ancient Palestine was the Seleucid Empire.

Its rulers prided themselves on the artistic, philosophical, and cultural inheritance of Greece, whose civilization Alexander’s armies had spread throughout Central Asia and the Near East. Wherever they ruled, these Hellenistic kings established academies and gymnasia (athletic/cultural centers) — and set up temples to the Greek pagan gods. The goal was to gradually assimilate all the natives to the “higher” civilization, making them easier to govern. It was a form of colonialism.

After a few decades of relatively tolerant rule over the Jews, Seleucid rulers decided it was time to force these subjects, too, to fall into line. They started encouraging pagan worship, bribing and corrupting the Jewish high priests, then finally just picking their own, collaborationist priests — whose job it was to keep the Jews in line while gradually Hellenizing and paganizing them.

They discouraged circumcision and urged Jews to take part in the scandalous, naked athletics that Greeks saw as central to their culture. If Jews worshiped false, Hellenic gods and Seleucid governors profaned the Temple by sacrificing pigs to Zeus, these priests’ reaction was the same as Pope Francis’s more recent response to homosexual practice: “Who am I to judge?”

Many Jews went along, eager to shed their provincial, eccentric heritage and join the prestigious global culture of their richer, more powerful rulers. But some Jews remained faithful and found leaders in the Maccabee family, a band of zealous brothers captained by the gifted warlord Judas. That family led a series of violent guerrilla campaigns against one of the most powerful kingdoms on earth.

Though Judas would perish in combat and his brother Jonathan would be murdered, the faction of faithful Jews eventually triumphed and established an independent, religiously faithful Jewish kingdom once again. That would last until 37 B.C., when Jews fell under the domination of their one-time allies, the empire of Rome.

A Very Bad Version of Moses

All Christians face a Maccabees moment right now, but Catholics face it in a very pointed way: We actually have a high priest (pontifex maximus) in Pope Francis. Given his authority to teach and rule, his status is even higher than the chief priest’s in Jerusalem’s Temple: According to Catholic tradition, a pope stands almost in the same role that Moses did to the Israelites, as the trustworthy interpreter of divine revelation to the faithful.

Our current Moses isn’t handing down God’s commandments, alas. As Jules Gomes reported here a few days ago, Pope Francis’s doctrine cop, Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger’s old job), has blown up a key Christian doctrine: God’s creation of human beings as men and women.

Up till now, the Catholic church has firmly and without wavering denounced the hormonal disruptions and surgical mutilations promoted by our psychological establishment to “treat” gender dysphoria by remaking the body to match the mind’s sad delusions. Now Fernández has ruled that there are exceptions to this teaching in cases of “strong dysphorias that can lead to an unbearable existence or even suicide.”

Here Fernández is simply repeating a favorite talking point of the transgender industry: that the grotesque procedures necessary to torture a male body to look female, or vice versa, are often the only alternative to suicide. Research has proved this claim false again and again, but don’t expect that to matter. Claiming that resistance to transgenderism threatens the lives of those who suffer dysphoria is key to winning a highly political battle. Fernández is on the Enemy’s side in that battle — and evidently Francis is as well.

Morality via Sob Stories

Keep in mind that current Catholic teaching (for the moment) does not allow exceptions to the ban on contraception. Even married couples dealing with medical issues that make pregnancy dangerous may not use birth control. Likewise, Fernández has seconded Francis’s claim that capital punishment is always wrong, no matter the situation (and no matter what the Bible says.) But a Catholic doctor may perform a sex-change operation, if the sob story offered is heart-wrenching enough.

This apostasy by the Vatican’s highest authority on doctrine (apart from the pope) carries many grave implications.

Just as it did in issuing Amoris Laetitiae in 2016, the Vatican here is undermining fundamental doctrines of the entire Jewish-Christian tradition and shredding the foundations of Natural Law — the moral code the Creator wrote on the heart of every rational human being.

Speaking practically, the Vatican has handed a dagger to post-Christian legislators, judges, prosecutors, and LGBT+ litigants with bottomless financial resources — which any or all of those will drive into the heart of religious liberty. How will a Catholic doctor, nurse, or parent defend his conscience rights in court when his own Church’s highest doctrinal authority has renounced the doctrinal basis for refusing to butcher children to match the fantasy sex-identity some groomer or fetishist has planted in their young minds?

A Cudgel for Leftist Judges

As John Gravino, author of the groundbreaking Confronting the Pope of Suspicion, told The Stream:

Leftist judges can pretend that Francis changed the teaching on LGBT equality. And with that, the conscience rights of Catholics will no longer be protected by the First Amendment. No Catholic will be able to defend himself from the coming LGBT invasion on the grounds that ‘gay equality violates my religious beliefs.’ Leftist judges will be able to deny such claims on the grounds that ‘Pope Francis changed your religious beliefs.’

But the tsunami this Vatican has unleashed will flatten more than our freedoms. Francis has made it clear that he wants Catholics to conform themselves in virtually every way to the modern heirs to the Seleucids who tyrannized Jerusalem. In order to gain acceptance from the new global, pagan culture that now dominates the West, we must ape its toxic empathy, revere its sexual fetishes, and internalize its Gnostic contempt for God’s noblest creation: the human person, which He made male and female.

Please Support The Stream: Equipping Christians to Think Clearly About the Political, Economic, and Moral Issues of Our Day.

In doing all this, Francis is emulating the paganizing high priests in the Temple whom the Maccabees rose up to topple. Telling Catholic doctors to butcher human bodies in the name of “compassion” is arguably worse than sacrificing a few pigs to Zeus in the Holy of Holies.

What will be left of papal authority by the time Francis goes to his rich, rich reward? Will future popes have to denounce his heretical words and deeds, perhaps rule retroactively that he lost the papal office by leaving the Catholic faith? I don’t know when we’ll get another truly Catholic pope, but I do know the Latin title of the document he’ll have to publish evaluating Francis’s legacy: Damnatio Memoriae.

Trump issues crude and humiliating response to trade partners as he tanks the global economy

By NIKKI SCHWAB, CHIEF CAMPAIGN CORRESPONDENT FOR DAILYMAIL.COM IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Published: 00:05 EDT, 9 April 2025 | Updated: 08:13 EDT, 9 April 2025

Donald Trump was unabashed last night as he claimed that America held all the cards in the ongoing trade war that is sending global markets to the brink of collapse.

'I am telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass,' the president said during a speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner in Washington.

'They are dying to make a deal. "Please, please sir, make a deal. I'll do anything sir."'

It comes as markets puked again on Wednesday. Japan's Nikkei 225 and London's FTSE 100 were down 4 percent. Dow and S&P futures were trading down 1 percent and 0.75 percent before the bell.

Trump remained defiant as he spoke to his MAGA base last night.

'They ripped us off left and right. But now it's our turn to do the ripping,' the president declared.

'Japan is coming here as we speak. They're in a plane, flying lots of them, all tough negotiators, but things that people wouldn't have given us two years ago ... three years ago, five years ago, seven - they're giving us everything.

'They don't want tariffs on themselves.'

Last Wednesday Trump announced that every country - even uninhabited islands - would be hit with a 10 percent tariff on imports, with 'reciprocal' tariffs doled out to countries the White House considered to be the worst offenders.

Since then markets have cratered.

On Tuesday, after a brief rally attributed to a tariff pause possibly being on the table, the Dow ended more than 300 points down. Overall the tariff-related market drop amounted to more than 4,500 points. As 12:01 a.m. Wednesday approached - when the tariffs would kick in - U.S. stock futures and Asian equity markets dropped.

Trump escalated his trade war Tuesday - by announcing a 104 percent tariff on China would go into effect, after China refused to lift its retaliatory tariffs by Trump's deadline of noon on Tuesday.

'Until they make a deal with us, that's what it's going to be,' Trump said at Tuesday night's NRCC President's Dinner.

At the same dinner, Trump also teased more tariffs were coming.

'We're going to be announcing very shortly a major tariff on pharmaceuticals,' he said.

Trump had initially pitched a 34 percent increase on China when he announced the new tariffs during last Wednesday's Rose Garden 'Liberation Day' event, on top of the 20 percent tariffs on China he had rolled out earlier this year. He then stuck Beijing with another 50 percent increase.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that 'it was a mistake for China to retaliate.'

'The president, when America is punched, he punches back harder,' she said, but added that 'if China reaches out to make a deal, he'll be incredibly gracious, but he's going to do what's best for the American people.'

She answered that it would be 'imprudent' of her to share what conditions it would take for Trump to lower the 104 percent tariff.

Leavitt confirmed, however, that the president was open to making deals after the tariffs go into effect.

'Moving forward the president will talk to any country that picks up the phone to call and I can tell you the phones have been ringing off the hook wanting to talk to this administration, this president and his trade team to try and strike a deal,' Leavitt said.

'And it's because the world knows that they need the United States of America, they need our markets, they need our consumer, the president has a lot of leverage on his side because he has the best economy and the best country in the world that he leads,' she continued. 'And he knows that.'

'And it's about dang time we have a president who uses that economic leverage to benefit American workers and that is what the president is trying to do,' the press secretary added.

During an executive order signing Tuesday afternoon, Trump said both South Korean and Japanese officials were flying to the U.S. to make a deal.

Both strong allies of the U.S., Trump placed a 24 percent tariff on Japanese imports and a 25 percent tariff on items from South Korea.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is expected at the White House on April 17.

Her country is being hit with the 20 percent European Union tariffs.

Trump met yesterday with his first world leader post-Liberation Day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, yet a 17 percent tariff on Israeli imports is going into effect.

With the tariffs in place, a lot of items are about to become more expensive.

Groceries

Trump won the election in November over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris by persuading Americans he would be better on the economy.

He hammered President Joe Biden and later Harris on COVID-19 pandemic inflation that drove up food prices.

But the Food and Drug Administration estimates that about 15 percent of the U.S.'s food supply is imported, including 32 percent of fresh vegetables, 55 percent of fresh fruit and 94 percent of seafood Americans consume annually.

Bananas are brought in from Guatemala and Costa Rica, which are both being hit with a 10 percent import tax. Guatemala also exports melons, plantains and papayas into the U.S., while Costa Rica exports pineapples, avocados and mangoes.

Among the top sources of seafood, Chile will be hit with a 10 percent tariff, India with a 26 percent tariff, Indonesia a 32 percent tariff and Vietnam, one of the highest at 46 percent.

About 80 percent of coffee comes from Latin America, with 35 percent of it from Brazil and 27 percent from Colombia, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Both Brazil and Colombia will be hit with 10 percent tariffs.

Chocolate will get pricier as cocoa beans being imported into the U.S. from Cote d'Ivoire and Ecuador will be hit with 21 percent and 10 percent tariffs respectively.

Already produced chocolates from Switzerland will be hit with a 31 percent tariff - higher than the European Union's 20 percent and the U.K.'s 10 percent tariff rate.

Cheese will be impacted as top imports are from Italy, France, Spain and the Netherlands, all E.U. countries and thus susceptible to the 20 percent rate.

Food industry analyst Phil Lempert estimated to NPR that 40,000 grocery products will be impacted by Trump's tariffs, 'whether it's the entire product or just an ingredient.'

One lucky break - while Canada and Mexico were hit with 25 percent tariffs over Trump's fentanyl emergency order, items involved in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement signed in 2020 were carved out.

That includes avocados from Mexico - which should make millennials happy.

Alcohol

Trump had previously threatened a 200 percent tariff on European wine.

That didn't happen but the tariffs going into effect will make alcohol pricier.

Major beer, wine and liquor brands sold in the U.S. are imported from overseas. '

Some of the most popular wine sold in the United States comes from the European Union - France, Italy and Spain - and will be hit with a 20 percent tariff.

Argentinian, Australian and New Zealand wines will come with a 10 percent tariff.

Corona from Mexico has already been impacted by a 25 percent tariff, while Guinness from Ireland and Heineken from the Netherlands will now be hit with the 20 percent European Union tariff.

Scotch whiskey will be hit with a 10 percent U.K. tariff.

Even American breweries anticipate being impacted by the Trump tariffs due to the aluminum being used to make cans coming from China.

Clothing and shoes

Clothing costs will be majorly impacted by the Trump tariffs.

The American Apparel & Footwear Association told the Associated Press that about 97 percent of the clothes and shoes purchased in the United States are imported - predominantly from Asia.

The Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America additionally told the AP that 99 percent of shoes in the U.S. are imported.

The group warned that the U.S. does not have domestic sources for more than 70 materials that go into making a shoe. 'These materials simply do not exist here, and many of these materials have never existed in the U.S,' the organization told the AP.

Products coming in from China will see the biggest hikes, as Trump said Tuesday that China will not be hit with 104 percent tariffs.

But other Asian nations also got hit with high rates, including Vietnam with 46 percent, Cambodia with 49 percent, Bangladesh with 37 percent and Indonesia with 32 percent.

A number of U.S. companies had moved production away from China, but set up shop in these heavily tariffed Asian countries instead.

Lululemon, for example, said that 40 percent of its sportswear last year was manufactured in Vietnam, 17 percent in Cambodia, 11 percent in Sri Lanka - which got hit with a 44 percent rate - 11 percent in Indonesia and 7 percent in Bangladesh, according to the AP.

Electronics and household items

Electronics are expected to get hit especially hard due to how many companies' supply lines are still in China.

Apple products are almost exclusively made in China.

Even Android products are going to be hit - as most phones are made in China, South Korea, Vietnam and India.

South Korea is getting hit with a 25 percent tariff, Vietnam a 46 percent tariff and India a 26 percent tariff.

Nintendo products are manufactured in China and Vietnam.

Many household electronic devices - like Crockpots and pressure cookers - are also made in China.

Wired did the math on what a laptop manufactured would cost once Trump's 104 percent China tariffs are factored in.

That laptop, which previously would have cost the American importer $395 jumps to $795 and if they pass the costs onto the consumer, the laptop would now cost $966 - a 69 percent hike.

China Has An Insidious 6 Point Plan To Defeat Donald Trump And Win The Economic War

April 8, 2025 by Michael

The Chinese have no intention of giving in to President Trump and are vowing to “fight to the end”. So that means that an economic war between the number one economy on the entire planet and the number two economy on the entire planet is officially on. Yesterday, I warned my readers that imports from China were about to be hit with a 104 percent tariff, but because this number had not been reported by the mainstream media yet a lot of people didn’t believe me. Of course this morning major news outlets all over the globe were using that number. Here is just one example

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that because China declined to lift its retaliatory tariff, the president’s additional 50% tariff levied on top of previously imposed tariffs of 20% and 34% took effect, bringing the total tariff on Chinese goods to 104%.

She added that the tariffs took effect at noon Eastern Time on Tuesday, with tariff collection set to begin on Wednesday. Leavitt said that U.S. trading partners should be coming to the administration with deals to improve trade terms.

“The president’s message has been simple and consistent from the beginning to countries around the worldbring us your best offers and he will listen,” Leavitt said during a White House press briefing Tuesday. “Deals will only be made if they benefit American workers and address our nation’s crippling trade deficits.”

Many were expecting the Chinese to back down, but that isn’t happening.

In fact, China’s Commerce Ministry has released a statement that ominously declares that they are ready to “fight to the end”…

China’s Commerce Ministry said it “resolutely opposes” U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of escalating tariffs, and vowed to take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.

The comments came after Trump said he would impose an additional 50% duty on U.S. imports from China on Wednesday, if Beijing does not withdraw the 34% tariff it imposed on American products last week.

“The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake,” the statement said, according to a CNBC translation. “China will never accept it. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.”

I have a feeling that phrase comes from the very top, because a different Chinese spokesperson used almost the exact same language…

At a regular news conference on Tuesday, Lin Jian, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said Beijing would take “necessary measures” against U.S. tariff threats, according to a CNBC translation of reports in Chinese state media.

He reiterated the Commerce Ministry’s statement, “If U.S. insists on waging a tariff war, a trade war, China will fight till the end.”

What we are witnessing is a real life game of economic chicken.

So what happens if neither side blinks?

The truth is that we could soon have a real nightmare on our hands.

According to Bloomberg, “two influential state-linked Chinese bloggers” have published identical lists of “countermeasures” that the Chinese government is prepared to implement…

While China hasn’t said how it would respond if Trump follows through on his threat, two influential state-linked Chinese bloggers posted an identical set of countermeasures that they said authorities are considering. They include raising tariffs on US farm products, a ban on Hollywood movies and investigating American firms’ intellectual property gains in the country.

Without a doubt, some of these “countermeasures” would definitely cause quite a bit of pain for our economy…

Suspending cooperation with the U.S. on fentanyl (which Beijing itself helped flood into American communities),

Jacking up tariffs on American farm goods like soybeans and sorghum,

Blocking U.S. poultry,

Clamping down on American service industries,

Investigating U.S. intellectual property in China,

And, of course, reducing/banning U.S. films.

In addition, the Chinese have already placed new restrictions on rare earth elements and have added more U.S. companies to the “unreliable entities list”.

On top of everything else, it appears that a major currency devaluation could be right around the corner…

The People’s Bank of China on Tuesday set the midpoint rate for onshore yuan at 7.2038 per dollar, the weakest level since September 2023, according to data provider Wind Information. The yuan is allowed to trade within a 2% band of this midpoint rate.

The yuan’s weakening is a “big signal,” Robin Brooks, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia,” “this is Beijing politely saying this is getting a little too much, we are putting you on notice, we can devalue if we want and bigger things may come if you keep this up.”

This is a clear shot across the bow of Washington,” Brooks added.

Anyone that suggests that the Chinese are not able to hurt us does not know what they are talking about.

Yes, we can really hurt China, but they can really hurt us too.

Wouldn’t it be better if we could all just find a way to get along?

Because the reality of the matter is that history has shown us over and over again that trade wars have a way of evolving into shooting wars.

Interestingly, two Chinese soldiers that were apparently fighting for the Russian military have just been captured by Ukraine…

The Ukrainian military has captured two Chinese men fighting with the Russian army in the eastern Donetsk region, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday.

Ukraine has information that there are “significantly more” Chinese nationals fighting alongside the Russians in the more than three-year war, Zelenskyy said, adding that he has asked his top diplomat “to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China is going to react to this.”

It appears that the two men that were just captured were part of a group of six Chinese soldiers that got into a firefight with Ukrainian forces…

Zelenskyy said a clash with Chinese soldiers occurred near the villages of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka in the Donetsk region, where six Chinese military personnel engaged Ukrainian troops. Two Chinese were taken prisoner, Zelenskyy said at a news conference in Kyiv alongside visiting Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.

At this point, there is no indication that these soldiers were from the Chinese military.

Instead, it appears that they were actually part of the Russian military.

Just like Ukraine does, Russia hires soldiers from all over the world…

However, this is not evidence of a state-sanctioned deployment by China.

Russia is known to have recruited mercenaries from around the world to fuel its fight to seize control of Ukraine.

Many have come from Cuba, India, Yemen and several African countries, attracted by promises of significant cash incentives.

The conflict in Ukraine definitely has a global flavor to it, because there are literally soldiers from dozens of different countries involved in the fighting.

Of course the same thing could be said about the war in the Middle East as well.

Now we have added a worldwide economic war to our troubles, and I have a feeling that a lot more surprises are coming in the months ahead.

Joe Rogan left stunned as biotech boss reveals how China has genetically modified 'super babies'

READ MORE: Joe Rogan fled 'violent' father for San Francisco's gay scene

By ISHITA SRIVASTAVA FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Published: 14:54 EDT, 8 April 2025 | Updated: 07:58 EDT, 9 April 2025

Joe Rogan was left in shock after a biotech billionaire laid bare how China is 'engineering babies' using gene-editing technology.

Ben Lamm, co-founder of Colossal Biosciences - which just announced it has brought the dire wolf back from extinction - explained how Chinese scientists had cloned and modified babies to be resistant to HIV.

But he added there were rumors researchers in Beijing had also been tinkering with genes responsible for human intelligence, which prompted Rogan to let out a shocked 'ooh.'

Lamm said on the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience: 'They actually were engineering babies, editing their embryos to confer a resistance to HIV now still to this day.'

He added: 'The CEO of BGI [Beijing Genomics Institute], which is funded by the CCP, has said that they are looking at genes with humans, they are looking at what makes humans more intelligent, they don't shy away from this, this is not some conspiracy... this is something that is very real.'

Genetic editing of human embryos has been officially outlawed in China since 2003. However in 2018, Chinese scientist Dr He Jiankui revealed he had created the world's first genetically modified embryos.

Doctors implanted them in two women and three babies were born who were HIV-resistant, but due to fierce ethical criticism, he was jailed for three years in 2019.

Rogan asked Lamm if China is editing genes to create 'intelligent kids.' Lamm noted such theories were 'under debate' - pointing toward rumors that China had collected DNA through Covid testing and was analyzing it for intelligence genes.

Between 2016 and 2018, Dr Jiankui modified the genes of embryos belonging to eight couples in which only the father was HIV positive.

Using a gene-editing technique called Crispr-Cas9, he rewrote sections of the embryos' DNA with the goal of preventing the virus from being passed on.

Following his announcement, Dr Jiankui was promptly arrested and tried by Chinese authorities for 'illegally carrying out the human embryo gene-editing intended for reproduction' in 2019.

Officials found him guilty of conducting 'illegal medical practices' and sentenced to him to three years in prison. He was released from jail in 2023.

Rogan, however, said: 'The scary thing was that they didn't just do that. They also edited something that would allow the child to have much higher intelligence.'

But Lamm said this claim was 'under debate'.

He added: 'There's people that say that happened. There's people that say it doesn't happen.'

But the entrepreneur told Rogan the BGI Group, formerly Beijing Genomics Institute, had collected data from people across the world under the guise of Covid testing and planned to analyze the DNA for intelligence genes that could then be used potentially to create intellectually superior children.

Lamm said: 'During COVID they're like "We'll do all the COVID testing for you free. No worries, just send us your data. You just want to help the world right? We'll work with the World Health Organization."

He added: 'They are openly saying we are sequencing as much as we can of the world population, looking for genes for intelligence and we will act on that.

'That is not a hidden thing.'

While the genomics company had offered help with virus testing to some US states at the height of the pandemic, BGI has not commented on whether the Covid samples were used to collect human DNA information.

Rogan then jokingly asked if the HIV-immune kids were 'already winning chess championships'.

He added: 'We should find out. These kids are probably in a lab somewhere with a headset on, teaching them how to be psychic'.

Gene editing for reproductive purposes involves modifying DNA in either gametes, sperm, eggs or early embryos to prevent the transmission of genetic diseases or potentially for genetic enhancement.

However, the process has raised significant ethical concerns over the possibility of it being used to create 'designer babies' with specific traits.

Gene editing is currently considered unsafe as there is a lack of long-term data and evidence about potential risks like side effects and mosaicism (a condition in which cells within the same person have a different genetic makeup).

As of now, gene editing for reproductive purposes is effectively banned in the US and most of Europe.

Turkish President Erdogan calls for Allah to “bring destruction upon Zionist Israel,”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a provocative statement during an Eid al-Fitr address, calling on Allah todamn Zionist Israel” and bring about its destruction.

The remarks, made during a celebratory prayer marking the end of Ramadan, have ignited a firestorm of reactions across social media and international news outlets, highlighting the deepening rift between Turkey and Israel amid ongoing regional tensions.

According to reports circulating on X, Erdogan’s speech was unequivocal. One source, linked to a post from @rojavanewsnetw, quoted him saying, “May Allah damn Zionist Israel,” framing it as a direct call for divine intervention against the Jewish state.

Another post from @Danale elaborated, stating that Erdogan urged Allah to “destroy and destroy Zionist Israel,” emphasizing the intensity of his rhetoric.

These statements align with Erdogan’s long-standing criticism of Israel, particularly over its policies toward Palestinians, but the explicit invocation of divine destruction marks a notable escalation in tone.

News of the speech quickly spread beyond Turkey. A post from @UkandNireland referenced an article claiming Erdogan’s remarks were part of his broader Eid al-Fitr address, suggesting they were intended to resonate with his domestic base and the wider Muslim world.

Meanwhile, @WillemH1969 linked to a report noting that Israel swiftly condemned the statement, labeling it as anti-Semitic and inflammatory. The Israeli response underscores the diplomatic fallout, with tensions between the two nations already strained by years of political and ideological clashes.

Erdogan’s comments also drew attention to theological and political interpretations. A post from @sadcjp cited a source arguing that Erdogan’s plea was misguided, asserting that “Allah is a Zionist and is not going to harm his chosen people, EVER.”

This perspective, while provocative, reflects a counter-narrative challenging Erdogan’s framing of divine will, though it remains a minority view amid the broader discourse.

The timing of the statement, during a major Islamic holiday, amplifies its significance.

Posts on X, such as one from @AvixAvix linking to a report titled “Erdogan: ‘Allah will destroy Israel,'” suggest that the Turkish leader sought to leverage the religious occasion to rally support.

Critics, however, see it as a calculated move to bolster his image as a defender of Muslim causes, particularly in light of Turkey’s domestic economic struggles and his party’s political challenges.

International reactions have been mixed but intense. While some X users praised Erdogan’s boldness, others decried it as reckless.

The phrase “Muslim Ass Kisser Alert” from @UkandNireland’s post reflects a segment of sentiment viewing the remarks as pandering, while @AvixAvix’s fiery language—”This son of a Demon whore who spawned him”—illustrates the visceral opposition from pro-Israel voices. These posts, though not conclusive evidence, highlight the polarized global response.

Critically, Erdogan’s rhetoric raises questions about its practical implications. Turkey, a NATO member, has historically balanced its criticism of Israel with pragmatic relations.

Yet, this latest outburst could signal a shiftor simply be another instance of performative outrage. Without official transcripts or additional context from Turkish state media, the exact wording and intent remain subject to interpretation, a gap that X posts alone cannot fully bridge.

'Their final days': Iran orders advisers to leave Yemen, abandoning Houthis

Senior officials say move, notable shift in Tehran's regional policy, intended to avoid direct confrontation with U.S. in event Iranians are hurt by air offensive

Ynet|Yesterday | 16:50

Iran has ordered its military personnel to leave Yemen, effectively cutting off support for its Houthi allies as the United States intensifies its air campaign against the rebel group, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported Thursday.

A senior Iranian official told the newspaper that the move was intended to avoid a direct confrontation with the United States in the event that an Iranian soldier is killed. The withdrawal marks a notable shift in Iran’s regional strategy as it reduces support for proxy forces to prioritize what it sees as direct threats from Washington.

“The main concern in Tehran now is Trump and how to deal with him,” the official said. “Every meeting is dominated by discussions about him. None of the regional groups we previously supported are being discussed.”

President Donald Trump has escalated pressure on Iran, issuing repeated warnings that failure to negotiate over its nuclear program and regional activities would result in devastating airstrikes. He has also declared that any attack carried out by the Houthis—who continue to receive backing from Tehran—would be treated as an attack by Iran itself.

According to the Iranian source, officials in Tehran no longer believe the Houthis can withstand the sustained American bombardment.

They are living their final months or even days,” the official said. “There is no point in keeping them on our list. They were part of a chain that relied on [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah and [Syrian President Bashar] Assad, and keeping only one part of that chain for the future makes no sense.”

The United States has launched near-daily airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. Trump has described the campaign as “unbelievably successful,” with strikes eliminating senior commanders and destroying key military assets. The Houthis claim American bombs have hit civilian and government sites, including a water management facility in the town of Mansouriya.

In response to the escalating conflict, the Pentagon announced this week that the USS Carl Vinson, currently deployed in the Indo-Pacific region, is en route to the Middle East to support operations alongside the USS Harry S. Truman, already stationed near Yemen. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also ordered reinforcements of air squadrons and additional air defense capabilities.

American defense officials told Reuters that six B-2 stealth bombers have been deployed to the U.S.-British military base on Diego Garcia, a remote island in the Indian Ocean. The aircraft, designed to penetrate deep into enemy territory undetected, are capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear payloads.

“This location is close enough to reach Yemen or Iran,” a defense expert told Reuters.

According to The Telegraph, Iranian military commanders have considered a preemptive strike on Diego Garcia to deter a potential U.S. offensive. A senior Iranian official said military leaders were instructed to prepare for such an option.

FARMER STRIKE Hits Britain - PANIC BUYING of Bread and Flour Hits British Stores

Hal Turner World April 03, 2025 Hits: 16439

A first national farmers “strike” is under way in England with a number of farmers refusing to ship milling wheat out to stores for the next two weeks, in protest at the raft of Labor government policies that are hitting the industry hard.

Supermarkets across the nation have already seen a glut of shoppers stocking up on flour, yeast, and what’s left of baked goods, which will all disappear from shelves soon.

Tescos Supermarkets across London have already registered an uptick in flour sales, as have Costco, and Sainsbury’s. Fights broke out in a Croydon supermarket on Tuesday over a packet of flour, resulting in police shutting down the supermarket.

At the moment the UK government is trying to hush the news, and keep the controlled media under their leash, but news will soon gain speed through social media.

The strike began on April 1 and is already having noticeable effects throughout the UK.

US base and 4,000 of its troops are 'at risk of complete destruction' if Trump decides to strike Iran, state newspaper warns as it lays out how Tehran would launch attack with long-range drones

PODCAST: Trump's 'Liberation Day' Tariffs, plus shock call for Death Penalty in Luigi Mangioni case. Listen to Welcome to MAGAland here.

By TARYN PEDLER

Published: 05:43 EDT, 3 April 2025 | Updated: 11:48 EDT, 3 April 2025

Iran has issued a chilling warning that a key US military base and thousands of American troops could be obliterated if President Donald Trump orders a strike on Tehran.

Iranian armed forces-run Defra Press claimed Wednesday that Iran 'certainly has sufficient weapons' to attack Diego Garcia, a remote island in the Indian Ocean where the US has recently bolstered military presence.

The report directly threatened US Air Force and Navy assets, stating that the 4,000 American soldiers it claims are stationed there would be 'risk of complete destruction' in the event of an American attack on Iran.

While official estimates suggest the base at Diego Garcia typically hosts 400 military personnel and 2,000 civilian contractors, the state newspaper suggested the current presence of strategic assets makes it a prime target.

It comes as the US launched a fresh round of airstrikes on pro-Iranian targets Thursday as it prepares to reportedly bomb Iran's nuke programme.

The Houthis, a rebel Iranian proxy force, said six people were killed in the fresh strikes across the land they control, including a guard at a communications tower. They also claimed the US struck a water project, killing four, in the Hodeida governorate's Mansuriyah District. Some 17 strikes also hit Saada, near the Saudi border, and another person was killed at Ras Isa port in Hodeida, the Houthis said.

The US is shooting missiles from its destroyers and launching fighter jets from its aircraft carrier nearby - the USS Harry Truman.

Defra Press also outlined a number of potential attack strategies including how Iran could launch a devastating assault using its advanced Shahed-136 drones, which have a range of 4,000km - enough to reach Diego Garcia from Iran.

The Shaheds pack an explosive charge, can be fired one after the other, and can 'loiter' above potential targets for hours before being slammed directly into enemy soldiers, vehicles or buildings from above - causing a blast.

However, the drones' speed of 185km/h would mean a journey of nearly 20 hours - a significant window for US forces to intercept them.

Tehran could also unleash Khorramshahr ballistic missiles and other long-range weapons to strike the base. The weapon has a range of 2,000km and is able to carry a 3,300-pound warhead.

But Iran's missile stockpile has been severely depleted following Israeli airstrikes in April and October 2024, meaning Tehran may struggle to carry out a sustained attack.

Iranian warships could also attempt to get closer to Diego Garcia and launch missile and drone attacks from the Indian Ocean, but the vessels are poorly equipped to withstand a US naval response.

In a show of force, the US has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has extended the deployment of the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in the region.

Additionally, the USS Carl Vinson, which usually patrols the South China Sea, has been redirected to the Persian Gulf, directly south of Iran, to joint its sister carried USS Truman.

This will result in a rare two-carrier presence aimed at deterring Iranian aggression.

America has also already moved six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to the Chagos Islands, a third of its fleet, with satellite imagery showing them resting at the Diego Garcia military base on the UK-controlled island.

These high-tech planes have the capability of carrying bunker busting bombs across Iran that could destroy its military and nuclear sites.

The B-2 Spirits will likely be supported by a fleet of six Stratotanker in-flight refuelling craft, which were seen at Diego Garcia.

These would give the Spirits the capability to fly to Iran, deliver payloads and fly back to the Chagos Islands in a roughly 5,000-mile round trip.

The deployment underscores the escalating tensions and the US's preparedness for any possible conflict with the Middle Eastern country.

But Iran has stepped up its rhetoric against the US in recent weeks, repeatedly threatening American bases across the Middle East.

A senior Iranian officials ominously warned the Wall Street Journal that 'each American soldier will be an individual target' if the US carried out a strike on Iran.

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of Iran's Aerospace Force, claimed the US has at least 10 bases and over 50,000 troops in the region - all of whom are within range of Iran's weapons.

Tehran has previously launched strikes on US bases in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan, while Iran-backed Houthis have targeted Al Dhafra Airbase in Abu Dhabi, which hosts both US and French personnel.

And with tensions at an all-time high, all eyes are on President Trump, who has vowed to take a harder stance on Iran.

He has threatened to attack the Middle Eastern nation with a 'bombing the likes to which they've never seen before' should its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, refuse to destroy its nuclear programme and stop supporting proxy wars in the Middle East.

But Iran appears to be stepping up to the military challenge, with Khamenei adviser Ali Larijani recently telling local media: 'If America or Israel bomb Iran under the nuclear pretext, Iran will be compelled to move toward producing an atomic bomb.'

Last month, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran had substantially increased its production of nuclear-capable uranium, and had increased its stockpile of near-weapons grade material.

The US is also exerting financial pressure on Iran, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday meeting in Washington with 16 global banks and federal law enforcement agencies on US sanctions policy on Iran including efforts to cut its oil exports.

Bessent said President Trump's administration is applying economic pressure to the maximum extent possible to disrupt Iran's access to financial resources that help it fund Hamas and other militant groups throughout the Middle East and its efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon.

This includes the billions of dollars each year that Iran generates via its oil sales, which the regime also uses to finance its dangerous agenda and support its multiple terrorist proxies and partners,' Bessent said, according to a copy of his remarks.

Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.

Trump restored his policy of maximum pressure on Iran in February that includes efforts to drive its oil exports down to zero.

In March Treasury slapped sanctions on tankers carrying Iranian oil and on a Chinese 'teapot' refinery for processing the oil. Teapots are small, independent refineries in China. China's national oil company refineries have stopped buying Iranian oil over concerns about sanctions.

Bessent mentioned the US sanctioning of Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd, the small refinery, and its chief executive officer for purchasing and refining hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian crude oil, including from vessels linked to the Houthis and the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.

'Teapot refinery purchases of Iranian oil provide the primary economic lifeline for the Iranian regime,' Bessent said.

Bessent also warned the banks that Iran conducts its foreign exchange activities through a covert shadow banking network.

'My message to financial institutions worldwide is unequivocal: safeguard your institutions from being exploited by this malign network, so you can continue to serve your legitimate clients with integrity,' Bessent told the banks, according to the Treasury Department.

The department did not immediately respond to a request about which banks and agencies participated.

Bessent said Treasury uses tools such as Wednesday's meeting to bring together financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement, to disrupt what it calls Iran's illicit revenue streams.

In an NBC interview over the weekend, Trump also threatened so-called secondary tariffs, which affect buyers of a country's goods, on both Russia and Iran.

Microsoft scales back AI data center boom as China’s DeepSeek upends the market

04/04/2025 // Cassie B. // Views

Microsoft scales back AI data center construction globally, halting projects in the U.K., Australia, Indonesia, and the U.S.

China’s DeepSeek AI model disrupts the market with 40 to 50x greater efficiency than Western competitors.

Analysts warn of AI infrastructure oversupply as demand softens and Chinese innovation reduces computing needs.

Microsoft cancels or defers projects worth 2 gigawatts of power, equivalent to 1.5 million U.S. homes’ electricity demand.

The AI boom faces a reality check as efficiency, not expansion, becomes the new industry benchmark.

In a move signaling potential turbulence for the artificial intelligence investment frenzy, Microsoft has dramatically scaled back construction of AI data centers across the U.S., Europe, and Asia—including halted projects in Indonesia, the U.K., Australia, and multiple American states.

The retreat, first reported by analysts at TD Cowen and later detailed by Bloomberg, comes as China’s DeepSeek AI model emerges as a disruptive force, boasting efficiency gains 40 to 50 times greater than Western competitors. The shift raises urgent questions about whether the AI industry has overbuilt infrastructure, with Goldman Sachs analyst Rich Privorotsky warning: “If you can do more with less, it naturally raises the question of whether so much capacity is necessary.”

The pullback marks a notable reversal for Microsoft, which had pledged $80 billion in AI infrastructure spending for 2025. Now, with demand projections softening and Chinese innovation undercutting cost assumptions, the tech giant’s retrenchment may foreshadow a broader reckoning for an industry banking on endless growth.

A global retreat

Microsoft’s cuts span continents. In the U.K., the company abandoned negotiations to lease space near Cambridge for a facility designed to host advanced Nvidia chips. Similar talks collapsed near Chicago, while construction paused outside Jakarta and in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin—a site once championed by former president Joe Biden. TD Cowen estimates Microsoft walked away from projects representing 2 gigawatts of power capacity, equivalent to the annual electricity demand of 1.5 million U.S. homes.

“We continue to believe the lease cancellations and deferrals point to data center oversupply relative to its current demand forecast,” analyst Michael Elias wrote in a client note. The slowdown isn’t isolated: Google and Meta are reportedly absorbing some abandoned capacity, but even their spending faces scrutiny as investors question AI’s near-term profitability.

The DeepSeek disruption

The unspoken catalyst for Microsoft’s retreat may be Beijing-based DeepSeek. Since its January debut, the model has upended industry assumptions with claims of 40 to 50x greater efficiency than rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Privorotsky of Goldman Sachs flagged the implications: if AI workloads require far less computing power, the justification for sprawling data center networks weakens.

The efficiency gap threatens to accelerate “peak AI capacity”—the point at which demand plateaus—years ahead of Goldman’s late-2026 estimate. Meanwhile, Western tech firms face mounting pressure to justify billions in spending while Chinese rivals advance with leaner infrastructure.

Microsoft’s stock dipped 1% on the news, echoing broader tech sector unease. The AI boom, fueled by hype and speculative investment, now confronts a reality check. CoreWeave, a cloud startup reliant on AI contracts, scrambled to deny rumors of Microsoft canceling agreements, but the market’s jitters persist.

While Microsoft insists its $80 billion annual AI budget remains intact, the strategic pauses suggest recalibration. A spokesperson said although the company may "strategically pace or adjust our infrastructure in some areas, we will continue to grow strongly in all regions". Skeptics see a deflection. As TD Cowen’s notes underscore, the math is changing: when competitors achieve more with less, overbuilding becomes a liability.

Microsoft’s retreat underscores a pivotal moment for AI. The industry, once racing to outbuild rivals, now faces a disruptive truth: efficiency, not sheer scale, may dictate winners. With China’s DeepSeek resetting cost benchmarks and demand timelines tightening, the data center gold rush looks increasingly precarious. For investors, the question isn’t just about Microsoft—it’s whether the AI bubble has met its first major leak.

Russia Warns Against US Strikes On Iran Nuclear Sites: 'Catastrophic & Illegal'

by Tyler Durden

Authored...

Via The Cradle

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday that US threats of attack against Iran are "unacceptable" and could result in a "catastrophe".

"The use of military force by Iran's opponents in the context of the settlement is illegal and unacceptable. Threats from outside to bomb Iran's nuclear infrastructure facilities will inevitably lead to an irreversible global catastrophe. These threats are simply unacceptable," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also told Life magazine that the "consequences of this, especially if there are strikes on the nuclear infrastructure, could be catastrophic for the entire region."

Kremlin Pool via AP

Russia and the US have recently held talks on ending the war in Ukraine. Ryabkov said these talks have not resulted in a breakthrough.

Regarding tension between Tehran and Washington, Ryabkov said Russia "condemns US threats." The Russian Foreign Ministry comes after US President Donald Trump renewed his threat to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.

"If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing. But there's a chance that if they don't make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago," the president said on Sunday. Iran issued a formal complaint to the UN Security Council and said it would respond to any threat.

Trump had sent a letter to Iranian leadership in early March, threatening an attack if Tehran did not come to the negotiating table. Iranian officials said they would not negotiate under threats and economic sanctions, which Trump has imposed with full force as part of his "maximum pressure" policy.

This week, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has officially responded to Trump’s letter signaling a willingness for indirect talks, which the US is reportedly considering.

However, Washington is simultaneously beefing up its forces in the region in preparation for a potential attack. This follows several reports over the past two months that Israel is planning to strike at the Iranian nuclear program.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravachi held talks on the nuclear issue with Ryabkov on Wednesday.

"The sides stressed the illegality and inadmissibility of the use of military force by Iran's opponents to resolve disagreements and the unacceptability of threats from the outside to bomb Iran's nuclear energy infrastructure, as this will inevitably lead to large-scale and irreversible radiological and humanitarian consequences for the entire Middle East region and the world as a whole," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

China, Russia, and Iran released a joint statement on March 14 demanding an end to "unlawful" US sanctions against the Islamic Republic after meetings in Beijing between the three countries.

Tehran insists that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful, in line with a religious fatwa against weapons of mass destruction, as well as the fact that it is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Seismic rainstorms and wild tornadoes kill at least 18 people as 22 MILLION Americans are put under severe alert

By MELISSA KOENIG FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Published: 19:08 EDT, 6 April 2025 | Updated: 19:24 EDT, 6 April 2025

The devastating storms that tore through the Midwest since Wednesday have officially taken the lives of 18 Americans, including at least two children, as the East Coast braces for impact.

Among the fatalities were a boy, 5, found in a storm-battered home in Arkansas; a nine-year-old boy named Gabriel Andrews who was swept away by floodwaters while walking to his bus stop in Kentucky; and a 74-year-old who was found dead in a fully-submerged vehicle in Nelson County, according to CNN.

A 16-year-old volunteer firefighter in Missouri also died in a crash while seeking to rescue people caught in the storm, and in Tennessee, a Carroll County Electric Department lineman died on the job.

The state has reported the most deaths from the wild weather that battered the state and left towns fully flooded, with 10 storm-related deaths.

Half of those were in McNairy County, where an EF3 tornado on Thursday damaged 332 buildings, leveling 108, the Emergency Management Agency announced on social media.

But the deluge isn't yet over, as rivers continue to rise and torrential rains persisted across the South and Midwest, threatening the already waterlogged communities with 'moderate to major' flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Nearly 22 million people are now at risk of severe storms, as the system moves east.

The highest-risk zone for wild weather now extends from northern Georgia to eastern Louisiana, and includes cities like Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile and New Orleans.

A tornado watch is also in effect for southern and eastern Alabama, the Florida Panhandle and western and northern Georgia - affecting 8 million people.

If any tornadoes did form on Sunday, it would mark the eleventh consecutive day with twisters reported somewhere in the country, according to CNN.

There were four tornadoes reported on Saturday, along with 87 reports of severe weather, 78 reports of high wind and five reports of hail.

Over a foot of rain has now fallen across the mid-South since Wednesday, setting over a dozen daily rainfall records in Arkansas and Tennessee.

As a result of the deluge, more than 118,500 people remained without power across the Midwest as of Sunday evening, according to PowerOutage.us, a website that tracks outage reports.

At the same time, there were 898 delays and 29 flight cancelations, following 523 domestic and international flights canceled within the U.S. and more than 6,900 delayed on Saturday, per FlightAware.

Major highways were also left impassible in Kentucky and Tennessee due to the rising water levels, including sections of Interstate-40 in Memphis and Interstate-69 in Kentucky.

The National Weather Service is now urging drivers to 'turn around' if they encounter flooded roadways, and the Nelson County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky declared: 'Turn around, don't drown is more than saying it's the difference between life and death,' Wide Open Country reports.

Meanwhile, utility companies from Texas through Ohio scrambled to shut off power and gas, while cities closed roads and deployed sandbags to protect homes and businesses.

In Frankfort, Kentucky, rescue crews checking up on residents in the state capital had to traverse inundated streets in inflatable boats.

'As long as I´ve been alive - and I´m 52 - this is the worst I´ve ever seen it,' said Wendy Quire, the general manager at the Brown Barrel restaurant in downtown Frankfort.

As the swollen Kentucky River kept rising on Sunday, officials diverted traffic and turned off utilities to businesses in the city built around it, Quire said.

'The rain just won´t stop. It´s been nonstop for days and days,' she said.

For many, as the rain kept falling, there was a sense of dread that the worst was still to come.

'This flooding is an act of God,' said Kevin Gordon, a front desk clerk at the Ashbrook Hotel in downtown Frankfort. The hotel was still open Sunday and offering discounted stays to affected locals, but Gordon said the hotel could eventually be forced to closed.

State officials have since ordered evacuations in parts of the state, including in Montgomery County, where the Kentucky River is forecast to crest at 47 feet - high enough to cause near record flooding, according to the New York Times.

Flood warnings also remain in effect in Tennessee and Alabama.

The National Weather Service has even warned on Sunday dozens of locations in multiple states were expected to reach a 'major flood stage,' with extensive flooding of structures, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure possible.

It said on Sunday there is still some threat for heavy rainfall and flash flooding for portions of the Southeast and the Gulf Coast region going through this evening and overnight.'

Communities in areas affected by flooding 'should prepare for possible long duration and severe disruptions to daily life,' with 10 to 15 inches of rain expected over the weekend.

We Are Witnessing “Lehman-Style Margin Calls” In The Aftermath Of The Biggest Stock Market Wipeout In U.S. History

April 6, 2025 by Michael

We have never seen so much stock market wealth get wiped out in such a short period of time. Unfortunately, many major players on Wall Street that made a ton of money on the way up were not prepared for a rapid reversal of this magnitude. In an article that I posted on Friday, I wrote that “a lot of financial institutions that are deeply overextended” could quickly “find themselves in a tremendous amount of trouble”, and that is definitely turning out to be quite accurate. All of a sudden, hedge funds are being hit with absolutely enormous margin calls, and this threatens to create a “doom loop” which could potentially push stock prices a whole lot lower.

The panic that we are witnessing on Wall Street right now is very real.

Since January 17th, more than 11 trillion dollars in stock market wealth has been wiped out.

In fact, a total of 6.6 trillion dollars in stock market wealth was wiped out on just Thursday and Friday…

Roughly $11.1 trillion has been wiped away from the U.S. stock market since Jan. 17, the Friday before President Donald Trump took the oath of office and began his second term, according to data from Dow Jones Market Data.

Some $6.6 trillion of that figure was lost on Thursday and Friday alone — the largest two-day wipeout of shareholder value on record, Dow Jones data showed.

We have seen larger percentage drops over the course of two days, but in dollar terms we have never seen stock prices drop as much as they did during that two day period…

Markets have seen bigger percentage drops, such as in 1929 when they tumbled 25 percent over October 28 and 29 that year, but never as much in dollar terms.

This was truly historic.

And now a lot of people are concerned that we could potentially see a “Black Monday” and a “Black Tuesday”…

The selloff that followed President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariff announcement was large by any measure, a Black Thursday and a Black Friday. If they are followed by a Black Monday and Tuesday, then everyone is in trouble.

Hopefully global financial markets will start to stabilize soon.

But it certainly hasn’t happened yet.

During an interview with CNN, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins openly admitted that the White House knew that there would be “uncertainty”…

“The idea that we didn’t know that there would be some uncertainty just isn’t true,” Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We knew there would uncertainty.”

But Rollins urged Americans not to look at Thursday and Friday’s trading and say, “the world is ending; the markets are crashing.” Instead, she argued, “the markets are adjusting.”

I wouldn’t call this an “adjustment”.

The Nasdaq is already in bear market territory.

I would call this a crash.

But Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is insisting that most Americans “don’t look at the day-to-day fluctuations” of the financial markets…

In an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Bessent called it a “false narrative” that people who are close to retiring may be reluctant after their retirement savings may have dropped last week because of the stock market downturn.

I think that’s a false narrative,” he told moderator Kristen Welker. “Americans who want to retire right now, the Americans who put away for years in their savings accounts, I think they don’t look at the day-to-day fluctuations.

I understand that they are trying to keep everyone calm.

But it isn’t working.

At this point, even the largest Wall Street banks are officially freaking out. They are hitting hedge funds with “Lehman-style margin calls”…

Hedge funds are facing Lehman-style margin calls as a market crash triggered by President Donald Trump’s tariffs raises fears of a looming ‘Black Monday.’

The market’s sharp downturn has forced hedge funds to sell off assets, with major Wall Street banks demanding collateral after the value of holdings sharply declined, according to sources familiar with the situation.

There is now fear that these margin calls could create cycles of forced selling that could drive stock prices down to extremely painful levels.

The sheer panic that we witnessed in New York on Friday was unlike anything that we have seen since the darkest days of 2008…

‘Rates, equities, and oil were all down significantly… it was the broad market movements that caused the scale of the margin calls,’ one prime brokerage executive told the Financial Times.

While, another prime brokerage executive noted: ‘We are proactively reaching out to clients to assess [risk] across their entire portfolios.’

Prime brokerage teams on Wall Street, which lend money to hedge funds, held ‘all hands on deck’ meetings on Friday to prepare for the increasing volume of margin calls, sources told the Financial Times.

Wow.

This is all happening so fast.

A lot of major players that were way out on a limb are going to end up getting their clocks cleaned.

Leverage can be so seductive. On the way up, it can help you make tremendous amount of money, but on the way down it can feel like the world is ending.

As I have always warned my readers, you only make money in the stock market if you get out in time.

Wall Street loves stability, because stability leads to predictability.

Unfortunately for Wall Street, we have now entered times that are going to be extremely unstable.

A number of my readers have pointed out to me that the stock market was way overdue for a correction, and I agree with that assessment very much.

But what we are witnessing at the moment is not just another run of the mill correction.

What we are witnessing is a full-fledged panic.

Will the White House be able to settle the markets down?

I don’t know, but I will definitely be watching.

Without a doubt, it appears that a very “interesting” week is ahead of us.

On the road to Gog and Magog? Increasing Turkish military presence in Syria concerns Israel

Expanding Turkish military presence across region catches the attention of Bible prophecy teachers

All Israel News Staff | Published: April 2, 2025

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan invited Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham leader and Syrian interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa to Ankara for discussions regarding the establishment of Turkish bases in Syria, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Several sources familiar with the discussions told Reuters that Erdoğan and al-Sharaa discussed the possibility of establishing two Turkish bases in Syria's central desert region, including a former Russian airbase (T4) east of the city of Homs.

The agreement could also include the use of Syrian airspace for military purposes and Turkish participation in the training of the forces of the new Syrian army.

The report also said that the agreement could include Turkish protection of Syrian airspace to prevent future attacks, such as the Israeli strikes aimed at destroying military supplies left by the former government of Bashar al-Assad.

According to a report in "Middle East Eye", Turkey has already begun formulating construction plans for the base, which is located near the city of Palmyra in central Syria. That report claims that Turkey would initially establish air defense systems on the base, before stationing long-range UAVs, such as the Turkish Bayraktar TB2, which has seen extensive use by Turkish forces and Turkish militias against Kurdish fighters in Syria, Iraq, and eastern Turkey, as well as in Libya.

An Israeli security source said that any Turkish air base in Syria would harm Israel's freedom of action. "This is a potential threat that we oppose," the source said.

While the Turkish air force is not as advanced as the Israeli Air Force, which boasts newer versions of the F-16 and F-15 fighter planes also used by Turkey, as well as the F-35 stealth fighter, the Muslim country is working to develop its own fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, the "TF Kaan."

The Kaan was developed by Turkey after its involvement in the F-35 program was terminated by the United States over its purchase of the Russian-made S-400 air defense system. On paper, the Turkish Aerospace Industries' (TAI) Kaan claims to be superior to the F-35, but it is still in development and not ready for combat roles, while the F-35 has already demonstrated itself to be a valuable part of the IAF.

Israeli defense officials are said to be very concerned over Turkey’s push to gain official military access to Syria. While Turkey likely sees the move as important for being able to threaten and contain Kurdish forces in the northeast of Syria, Turkish President Erdoğan’s repeated threats against Israel over the past decade also have Israeli officials concerned that the country might begin to implement its Neo-Ottoman ambitions in the rest of the Levant more aggressively.

Turkey has significantly increased the flow of weapons and money into Syria following the collapse of the Assad regime, and it has strongly supported the new government.

Israeli officials are also reportedly concerned that a Turkish air force presence in Syria in the near future could prevent Israeli participation in a joint strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, or Israel’s ability to strike Iran in retaliation for possible future attacks from the Islamic Republic.

Turkey gave significant backing to the Syrian rebels who overthrew the Assad regime, including Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, and the Turkish-funded Syrian National Army (formerly called the Free Syrian Army).

In January, Syria’s new Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra welcomed Turkish partnership, stating that the new government would work to build strong regional ties, saying, “and through these ties we will be able to build our military power well.”

Previously, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler had indicated Turkey’s willingness to provide military support to the new Syrian government, saying the country was also willing to discuss a Turkish military presence “when the necessary conditions are ripe.”

A security official told The Jerusalem Post, “We targeted the military T4 base recently to send a message that we will not allow harm to our air freedom of operation.”

[Editor's note]

The expansion of Turkish military forces into Africa over the past decade, especially into Islamic countries, along with its Neo-Ottoman irredentist moves in northern Syria, has also caught the attention of many in the world of Christian Bible prophecy interpretation.

For some, the presence of the Turkish forces in the modern-day countries named by the prophet Ezekiel in his apocalyptic vision of the war of Gog and Magog against the nation of Israel appears to have prophetic significance.

These moves, together with Erdoğan’s repeated comments about returning to Jerusalem, appear to signify to many in the Christian Bible prophecy community that modern geopolitical interests and biblical prophecy are converging.

Iran escalates threats against US military bases: Iranian officer warns US not to ‘throw stones in glass house’

Discussions over nuclear agreement escalate into mutual threats

All Israel News Staff | Published: April 1, 2025

Iran and the U.S. continued threatening each other, as tensions over the Trump administration’s push to reach an agreement over the Iranian nuclear program appear to be coming to a head.

Over the weekend, U.S. President Donald Trump issued his most violent threat, saying that if the two nations fail to reach an agreement, “there will be bombing. It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.”

Last month, Trump reportedly sent a letter to the regime and proposed starting new nuclear talks, while threatening military action if the talks failed to reach a quick conclusion within two months.

Trump's most recent comment sparked outraged responses from several Iranian officials.

Holding a rifle during a televised speech marking the end of Ramadan, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said, “They threaten to attack us, which we don’t think is very probable, but if they commit any mischief, they will surely receive a strong reciprocal blow.”

If the enemies think they can instigate sedition within the country, the Iranian nation itself will respond to them,” he added.

Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Aerospace Division of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), directly threatened U.S. bases in the Middle East.

“The Americans have at least 10 bases with 50,000 troops in the region, meaning they are sitting in a glass room. Someone in a glasshouse should not throw stones at anyone,” he added.

This followed a report by The Telegraph that Iranian military officials have been calling for a preemptive strike on the U.S. base on Diego Garcia island in the Indian Ocean.

According to the Associated Press, in the past several days at least seven B-2 bombers were deployed to the base, which is about 3,800 kilometers (2,300 miles) from the Iranian border. Reports suggested the base could be used by the U.S. in the case of a military operation to destroy the regime’s nuclear sites.

Discussions about the island have increased since the Americans stationed bombers there,” Iranian officials said. “The response to Trump's threats must come through action, not words. Every base in the region is within the range of our missiles.”

Tamir Hayman, the director of Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies and former IDF intelligence chief, estimated that “the escalation in the Persian Gulf is increasing.”

Writing on ?, Hayman warned, “The threats are escalating and the next two months are critical, between negotiations and an American or Israeli attack.”

In recent days, the threats by the regime and the military were echoed by Iranian state media as well.

The Tehran Times recently published a report claiming that Iran is ready to launch missiles against U.S. bases in the region. “A significant number of these missiles, ready for launch, are located in nderground facilities scattered across the country, designed to withstand aerial attacks,” the newspaper wrote.

Iran has also used diplomatic channels to protest against Trump’s statements. The regime reportedly filed a complaint with the Swiss embassy in Tehran, which represents U.S. interests in the country.

Foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei declared: “The explicit threat of bombing Iran by the head of a country is clear contradiction to the essence of international peace and security. Such a threat is a gross violation of the United Nations charter and a violation of the International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards regime. Violence brings violence and peace creates peace, America can choose.”

Amid the recent escalation, several Iranian officials have even begun discussing the building of a nuclear weapon more explicitly than before.

Last week, U.S. director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard assessed that the regime is not currently working on a nuclear weapon but added that public discussions of the issue, long a taboo, are now increasing.

Accordingly, Khamenei’s senior advisor, Ali Larijani, said on Monday that U.S. military action would “force Iran to move toward nuclear weapons because it must defend itself,” according to Iran International.

"Iran does not want to take this path, but when you apply pressure, it finds a secondary justification and has no other choice. The people will push for it, arguing that it is necessary for the country’s security."

Iran unveils new underground ‘missile city’

All Israel News Staff | Published: March 28, 2025

In a video released on Tuesday by the Tasnim News Agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) unveiled a new underground “missile city.”

The underground facility is claimed by Tehran to be “one of the hundreds of missile cities operated by the [IRGC],” the Jerusalem Post reported, and is the third to be unveiled in the past month.

Kheibar Shekan (900-mile range), Haj Qassem (850-mile range), Ghadr H (1,240-mile range), Sejjil (1,550-mile range), and Emad (1,050-mile range) missiles, as well as Paveh cruise missiles, are reported to be held in the city,” the report stated.

The video shows Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri and IRGC Aerospace Forces Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh walking through large underground corridors filled with missiles.

In one scene, Iranian military officials can be seen walking over a large Israeli flag on the floor of the facility.

Iran’s iron fist is far stronger than before,” Bagheri states in the video, saying it is “10 times stronger than True Promise I,” the first of the two missile attacks Iran launched against Israel.

“All the [defensive] dimensions that are required for generating a [military] capability that is 10 times [stronger than] the one deployed during Operation True Promise II,” he says, according to the translation. “The enemy will definitely fall behind in this balance of power.”

The recent announcements of Iran’s underground “missile cities” come as the Trump administration threatens military action against Iran if a nuclear deal cannot be reached.

There are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal," Trump said earlier this month. "I would prefer to make a deal, because I'm not looking to hurt Iran. They're great people."

U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff echoed Trump’s statements in an interview on Sunday.

Our signal to Iran is let's sit down and see if we can, through dialogue, through diplomacy, get to the right place,” Witkoff said.

If we can, we are prepared to do that. And if we can't, the alternative is not a great alternative."

Is a massive US-Israeli attack coming soon on Iran’s nuclear program?

A growing number of signs suggest answer is yes

Joel C. Rosenberg | Published: April 2, 2025

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — In early March, President Donald J. Trump secretly sent a letter to the leaders of the Iranian regime, inviting them to come to the table and negotiate a deal with American officials to end the Iranian nuclear threat to the world once and for all.

On March 7, Trump told Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo that he wants a diplomatic solution.

"The other alternative is you have to do something [militarily] because Iran can't have a nuclear weapon," Trump told Bartiromo.

A few days later, Trump told reporters, “We are down to final strokes with Iran. We are down to the final moments. We can't let them have a nuclear weapon. Something is going to happen very soon. I would rather have a peace deal than the other option, but the other option will solve the problem.”

Indeed, as more details have leaked out, we’re learning that the Trump letter was more than an invitation and an implied threat of U.S. and/or Israeli military force.

The letter also included a deadline.

“President Trump's letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei included a two-month deadline for reaching a new nuclear deal,” one American official and two additional diplomatic sources told the Axios news service in a report published on March 19.

In the days since, there are growing signs suggesting American and Israeli forces are preparing for a massive military strike against Iran’s nuclear program.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just extended the deployment of a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the Middle East – the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group – and ordered another group, Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group, to the Middle East.

Hegseth also reportedly ordered the deployment of additional fighter and bomber squadrons to the region.

What’s more, it’s now being reported by a former Israeli fighter pilot that “at least six U.S. B-2 bombers are now stationed at Diego Garcia air base in the Indian Ocean. This is important because the B-2 is the only aircraft that can deliver the massive GBU-57, one of the only bombs that can destroy Iran’s nuclear sites at Natanz and Fordow.”

Man Who Allegedly Threatened to Gun Down ICE Not So Tough When Homeland Security Shows Up

By Samuel Short April 3, 2025 at 6:43am

The Department of Homeland Security decided to pay a visit to a man in McKinney, Texas, after he allegedly made threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

Homeland Security Investigations Dallas posted to social media platform X on Wednesday that Robert King had been arrested for a series of social media posts.

HSI Dallas reported that King had stated his intentions to “open fire” if ICE agents were seen in his neighborhood.

The post included a picture of King in custody.

KXAS-TV was told by DHS that King is a U.S. citizen.

He had also allegedly threatened harm against Noem and called her a Nazi.

Tarleton State Criminology professor Dr. Alex Del Carmen spoke to KXAS on the matter, telling the outlet, King’s posts probably aren’t the only incriminating aspect of his behavior as DHS probably uncovered information showing his intent to make good on those statements.

“If this particular charge or if this claim has been made by the Department of Homeland Security, you know what it basically alludes to is the fact that they must have evidence in place that shows that this person had not only verbal comments that were made against her and against DHS but rather that he had the ability and he had the intent of doing both,” Del Carmen said.

One DHS official told KXAS about the department’s position, as they take matters like this seriously.

“Like Secretary Noem said: If you threaten or attempt to harm a law enforcement officer, we will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. Promises made, promises kept,” the official commented.

Does King believe he is some sort of freedom fighter standing up to tyranny?

ICE and DHS are working to remove some of the worst people imaginable from our country.

Illegal aliens exploited a lax border under the Biden administration, flooding the country in droves.

Some of these people went on to commit incredibly evil crimes, like murder and child rape.

Take 21-year-old Honduran David Hector Rivas-Sagastume of Georgia. He had been stopped at the southern border but released under the Biden administration in 2021.

In March, he was arrested and charged with capital murder in the death of 52-year-old Camilia Williams, a mother and grandmother.

He allegedly put her in a chokehold until she was dead.

This is who King fights for.

Texas hit by DOZENS of earthquakes in less than 24 hours

READ MORE: Texas rocked by earthquake just miles from city home to 1.5 million people

By CHRIS MELORE, ASSISTANT SCIENCE EDITOR FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Published: 10:04 EDT, 3 April 2025 | Updated: 13:01 EDT, 3 April 2025

The state of Texas has been rocked by over a dozen earthquakes in just the last day.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake struck just north of Odessa at 8:14am CT.

Just 15 minutes earlier, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck roughly 30 miles away.

Since 4am CT on Wednesday, Texas has experienced 16 minor earthquakes, all along the central and western parts of the state.

In April alone, USGS has recorded 36 earthquakes in this part of Texas, stretching from Stanton (41 miles northeast of Odessa) to Culberson County along the state's western border with New Mexico.

The vast majority have been very small tremors, measuring between 1.0 and 1.8 in magnitude.

However, two quakes this morning were larger, the 3.4 magnitude quake and a 2.1 tremor 13 minutes later in the same spot - approximately 17 miles southwest of Garden City.

Since March 13, USGS revealed that there have been a staggering 311 tiny earthquakes in this region of Texas.

It continues to be a seismically active year for all of Texas, which has also seen record-setting quakes in the southern part of the state.

On March 10, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck less than 50 miles south of San Antonio.

Historically, earthquakes had been a rare event in South Texas, until this year.

On January 29, a near-historic magnitude 4.5 earthquake was felt in San Antonio, followed by a 3.6 tremor two days later.

The 4.5 earthquake was the third-strongest quake in South Texas history - behind a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in 2011 and a 4.7 quake in February 2024.

Seismic activity above 2.5 in magnitude can often be felt and cause minor damage.

As for what's causing this earthquake swarm in West Texas, the answer may actually be man-made.

Odessa sits in the Permian Basin, a major oil and gas production region for the state. That area is also completely clear of major fault lines, like the ones in California that could cause major devastation.

Cities like Odessa, Stanton, and Midland are all in the rich oil-drilling area which only has smaller faults that usually get discovered when oil activity ramps up.

Texas is the biggest producer of crude oil and natural gas in the US, based on an assessment of 2023 data by the US Energy Information Administration.

The state is known for its extensive use of fracking, or the process of extracting oil and gas from deep underground by blasting large quantities of water, chemicals, and sand into rock formations to crack them open and release the fuels trapped inside.

Fracking is not usually the direct cause of an earthquake. It is actually the process of disposing wastewater produced through fracking that can trigger tremors.

This wastewater is injected into disposal wells that typically operate for longer periods of time and receive much more fluid than is injected into the ground during the fracking process, making them more likely to produce earthquakes, according to the USGS.

In President Trump's most recent address to Congress, he said: 'We have more liquid gold under our feet than any nation on earth… I fully authorize the most talented team ever assembled to go and get it… By unleashing American energy, we will defeat inflation and dramatically lower costs. It's called drill baby drill.'

Dr Alexandros Savvaidis recently explained how more drilling could end up leading to more seismic activity in the state.

'Deep injection wells, in particular, are linked to higher-magnitude earthquakes,' Dr Savvaidis told KMID. 'Whereas shallower injections seem to be less hazardous in terms of large seismic events.'

'We don't know yet if this aggressive drilling in the Permian Basin will create problems and increase the seismic risk. Maybe yes, maybe no. The key here…is that we have to monitor everything,' Dr Savvaidis continued.

USGS noted that the largest earthquake known to be induced by hydraulic fracturing in the US was a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred in 2018 in Texas.

To this point, only today's 3.4 magnitude quake has come close to approaching that level of disturbance.

A 2022 study by the University of Texas at Austin concluded that 68 percent of Texas quakes above magnitude 1.5 were 'highly associated' with oil and gas production.

Trump gives stunning response to Wall Street bloodbath as his tariffs cause biggest stock drop since Covid crash

By DANIEL JONES, CONSUMER EDITOR FOR DAILYMAIL.COM and NIKKI SCHWAB, CHIEF CAMPAIGN CORRESPONDENT

Published: 09:29 EDT, 3 April 2025 | Updated: 16:29 EDT, 3 April 2025

Wall Street had its worst day since the height of the Covid crash after President Donald Trump's tariffs sparked fears of a US and global recession.

Trump seems unfazed. Asked about tumbling stocks on Thursday as he boarded Air Force One to attend a golf dinner in Miami — as the Dow Jones was down 1,400 points — Trump said: 'I think it is going very well.'

'It was an operation. [It is] ike when a patient gets operated on and it's a big thing. I said this would exactly be the way it is,' he added, claiming that 'six or seven trillion' dollars would be coming into US.

'The markets are going to boom... the country is going to boom and the rest of the world wants to see if there's any way they can make a deal,' the president continued.

Wall Street was awash in red today after the President unveiled steeper-than-expected tariffs on Wednesday. For every stock that gained value, six were losing ground.

When the markets closed at 4pm in New York, the S&P 500 was down 4.84 percent, its worst day since June 2020 — as $2 trillion was wiped from an index almost every American has in their normal and retirement investments.

The Nasdaq plummeted 5.97 percent, its worst day since March 2020. The Dow Jones 3.98 percent, a headline-grabbing 1,700 point drop.

Individual stocks took an even bigger battering. Five Below ws down 26 percent and Gap by 21 per cent. Ralph Lauren, Dockers and Dell down 17 percent. Nike was down 13 per cent. Apple down 10per cent.

A 10 percent baseline tariff on all countries will take effect on April 5, with even higher duties for China, the European Union and Asian countries that supply cheap clothes to the US.

The small-cap Russell 2000 index — a key benchmark for smaller, US-focused businesses — plunged 5 percent to hit a 52-week lowThat drop extended its decline from its November 25 record high to 21 percent, officially pushing it into bear market territory.

On Wall Street, a 10 percent drop signals a correction, while 20 percent marks a bear market. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq remain in correction territory, with the Dow Jones hovering just below that threshold.

Trillions of dollars was wiped off the value of US stocksa blow that will also hit ordinary Americans whose retirement savings, including 401(K) are tied to the market.

Retail experts say tariffs will also push up prices for shoppers since they are so big companies will have to pass on higher costs.

Companies that rely on imports were down the most, since they will now be hit by tarifs as high as 54 percent for cheap goods from Asia.

Wall Street had hoped the sharp sell-off would encourage the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. But Fed member Philip Jefferson, speaking Thursday afternoon, said there were no plans to change track on the two planned cuts for 2025.

'The silver lining for investors could be that this is only a starting point for negotiations with other countries and ultimately tariff rates will come down across the board,' Northlight Asset Management's Chris Zaccarelli wrote in a note to clients. 'But for now traders are shooting first and asking questions later,' he added.

On Thursday morning, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick dismissed the possibility of exemptions for certain countries under the new US tariffs.

'I don't think the word exemption is going to be a factor. I don't think that's such a thing,' Lutnick said on CNBC's Squawk Box.

Lutnick also warned that other nations would be making a mistake if they retaliated with their own tariffs against the U.S.

Trump made his tariff announcement Wednesday afternoon in the White House Rose Garden, unveiling broad 10 percent tariffs — with even higher rates for certain countries. This includes 34 percent on China, on top of an existing 20 percent tariff. For the European Union, it is 20 percent, much higher than expected. Tariffs will be 25 percent on South Korea, 24 percent on Japan and 32 percent on Taiwan.

By then, Wall Street had closed, but futures tied to major US indexes immediately nosedived as investors worried about rising inflation and economic fallout.

Overnight, global stocks tumbled as recession fears spread. Japan's Nikkei index sank tumbled more than 3 percent, while South Korea's Kospi slipped 1.5 percent. In Australia's main index dipped 1.9 percent, heading for its worst single-day decline since September.

Trump on Wednesday accused foreign nations of 'ripping off' the United States. He announced a baseline 10 percent tariff on all imports, effective April 5, with higher rates for countries imposing steeper duties on US goods.

Trump confirmed that a 25 percent tariff would be imposed on all foreign cars imported to the US starts Thursday.

The president used aggressive rhetoric to describe a global trade system that the United States helped to build after World War II, saying 'our country has been looted, pillaged, raped, plundered' by other nations.

He has promised that factory jobs will return back to the United States as a result of the taxes, but his policies risk a sudden economic slowdown as consumers and businesses could face sharp price hikes on autos, clothes and other goods.

'Taxpayers have been ripped off for more than 50 years,' Trump said in remarks at the White House. 'But it is not going to happen anymore.'

He condemned 'foreign scavengers.' And he talked of other nations that had 'pillaged, raped and plundered' the U.S. and 'foreign cheaters' who 'ransacked' American factories.

It took nearly 20 minutes before Trump shared the tariff details.

'For nations that treat us badly we will calculate the combined rate of all their tariffs, non-monetary barriers and other forms of cheating. And because we are being very kind ... We will charge them approximately half of what they charge us,' Trump said.

Trump then held up a large sign that showed the calculations. As Trump went through the chart, he knocked even some of the U.S.'s closest allies for charging import taxes.

'The European Union. They're very tough, very, very tough traders. You think of European Union, very friendly. They rip us off. It's so said to see. It's pathetic,' Trump said. 'Thirty-nine percent, we're going to charge them 20 percent, so we're charging them essentially half.'

The largest tariff will hit the African nation of Lesotho, at a rate of 50 percent.

Canada and Mexico were exempt from Wednesday's tariff announcement, due to the president already charging them 25 percent excluding the goods outlined in the trade agreement from Trump's first administration.

'They all understand, we're gonna have to go through a little tough love maybe? But they all understand. They're ripping us off and they understood,' Trump said.

'Food Deserts' Are About To Explode All Across America As Grocery Food Chains Prepare To Close Dozens Of Stores From One End Of The Country To The Other

By Susan Duclos - All News Pipeline April 2, 2025

Food deserts are described by Very Well Health as "lower-income communities that lack access to nutritious, affordable food. Instead of grocery stores or farmers’ markets, these areas have corner stores or gas stations with limited shelf space for anything other than packaged foods that are convenient and shelf-stable. More often than not, these foods are unhealthy."

That is about to change very quickly after four years under the Biden regime and the inflation that made it impossible for some families to afford three full meals a day, even when not considered a "food desert."

While some prices are going down, to the consternation of President Trump's critics, a lack of access to foods other than "convenience" type stores selling absolute garbage is now spreading into areas not considered "low income," but rather middle class areas, because thousands of grocery store, as well as other types of retailers, closed in 2024.

In 2025, that pattern is continuing with the announcement of nine major grocery store chains are shuttering multiple locations this year, 2025.

Unfortunately, things are only going to get worse from here. Coresight Research also issued a grave prediction that 2025 is set to see even more closures, with as many as 15,000 stores closing its doors this year. Grocery stores are set to take a particular hit, and some of your favorites may be more in trouble than you think. Giants like Walmart, Kroger, and Albertsons are set to close several stores in 2025, and others are following suit. Let's take a look at some of the major chains set to shut some of their doors.

The national media will instantly blame President Trump's tariffs, which is why we highlighted and linked to the 2024 closures, well before Trump took over as President.

Some key data and reports from Daily Meal.

Walmart: closing a number of its stores in California throughout 2025, with others in Georgia and Ohio shutting up shop.

• In an earnings call in January 2025, Albertsons' leaders stated that they would be looking to close some stores over the coming year as part of a streamlining effort.

• In late January, Kroger announced the closure of its Belle Meade Plaza store in Nashville, Kroger will also see its Sterling Ridge location close in The Woodlands, Texas, with a planned final operation date of May 6.

Winn-Dixie:Two stores in Columbus and Phenix City have announced their closures in April and May, while others in Fort Lauderdale, Jackson, and Orlando have begun the conversion process into Aldis.

Safeway: 2025 looks to be an incredibly tough year for the supermarket chain, with its stores closing across the country at warp speed.

Shaw's store closures in Gloucester, Massachusetts and Concord, New Hampshire were announced in mid-March, with employees being relocated to nearby locations.

Amazon Fresh: In March 2025, the chain announced the closure of two of its stores California and Virginia, with the Virginia branch to close pretty much immediately and the California one to shut at the end of April.

Piggly Wiggly: 2025 will see several of its branches closing... - Things got even worse from there on in, with a beloved Piggly Wiggly in Columbia, South Carolina announcing that it was shutting its doors for the final time in March

Dollar General to close 96 of its stores by the start of 2026.

ANP EMERGENCY!! - Since the passing of Stefan Stanford, ANP's financial situation has become dire. Without significant contributions, the future of All News PipeLine, and our ability to stay online, is in danger. Anything at all ANP readers can do to help us is hugely appreciated.)

Some of those listed above are limited to certain areas of the country, while others are spread throughout the nation, but every closures provides one less place to buy food at reasonable prices and to be able to obtain healthier foods like fruits and vegetables.

Dollar stores became popular for many during the Biden years, with some doing the majority of their grocery shopping at them due to their prices which were lower than most regular grocery stores.

Ditto for Walmart.

We are seeing calls from liberals to open "public grocery stores," which would be government owned, such as New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

From the far left New Republic:

A novel solution to give Americans better access to fresh food is picking up steam across the country: government-owned, government-operated grocery stores. Such stores are touted by proponents as a way to provide groceries to so-called food deserts: communities that have been abandoned by for-profit stores that decided they weren’t worth the investment. But to succeed, public stores have to find ways to compete with the big chains that dominate the industry, keeping costs and prices low.

New York, being one of the most liberal states in the U.S., might go for it, but it is doubtful most Americans want the government in control of their ability to eat, or the prices of food products, especially with the waste and fraud being highlighted by DOGE (Department Of Government Efficiency). For some it would seem to be just another way for the state governments to track the habits of their constituents.

As mentioned above, some prices for food are going down, but others remain stubbornly high, such as beef. Due to ranchers selling off a couple years ago, that is something that was expected, and ANP warned about it back in November of 2023. It takes time to rebuild the stock after a cattle production collapse, with beef cows in the US hitting the lowest number since 1962.

Via Market Place:

In February, beef was up nearly 2.5% from January. And of course, eggs were up nearly 10.5%. Meanwhile, lots of categories were down. Bacon fell more than 2%, fruits and vegetables 0.5%.

The good news is that food inflation came in at 0% in February (March's numbers aren't in yet), and more prices are falling than rising, so finally things are starting to head in the right direction, but prices at the grocery stores that are staying open are still far too high.

Hard to turn around years of constant inflation in less than three months. Most Americans understand that, despite the media bias and attacks on President Trump, but patience isn't the issue, depleted bank accounts are, so things are still tough.

'Food Deserts' Are About To Explode All Across America As Grocery Food Chains Prepare To Close Dozens Of Stores From One End Of The Country To The Other

By Susan Duclos - All News Pipeline

LEARN TO LOVE FREEZE DRIED EGGS AND BEEF.....

For those that want a nice juicy steak, be prepared for the prices to stay high until cattle production numbers start rising again, but for those that like meaty casseroles, or stews, soups, or a handful of meat on salads, learn to season and love freeze dried beef.

Same goes for eggs, even though wholesale prices are down, it hasn't been reflected widely at grocery stores across the country.

BOTTOM LINE.....

It is going to take time to lower the food prices to the point where families can eat properly again, but with many stores closing and creating more and more "food deserts," getting nutritional meals for many seems a long way off.

Visualized: The Cost of Building a Home in the U.S.

This was originally posted on our Voronoi app. Download the app for free on iOS or Android and discover incredible data-driven charts from a variety of trusted sources.

Building a new home is a major undertaking that involves many moving partsfrom laying the initial foundation to giving the house its final touches.

In 2024, the average construction cost of a new home, which represents over 60% of an average home’s total sales price, hit a record high in the United States.

This infographic breaks down the average cost of building a new single-family home in the U.S. in 2024, by stages of construction. The data is based on a survey of 4,000 U.S. home builders by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Home Construction Breakdown: What Costs Most?

The average cost of constructing a new home was $428,215 in 2024, the highest level recorded by NAHB since it began its annual cost surveys in 1998. This equates to around $162 per square foot of finished floor space, with the average home spanning 2,647 square feet in 2024.

Here’s the full breakdown of the cost of building a new home, across different stages of the building process:

Construction Stage Description Average Cost Share of Construction Cost

Site Work Building permit fees, impact fee,

water & sewer fees inspections,

architecture, engineering $33K 7.6%

Foundations Excavation, foundation,

concrete, retaining walls, backfill $45K 10.4%

Framing Framing (including roof), trusses, sheathing,

general metal and steel $71K 16.6%

Exterior Finishes Exterior wall finish, roofing, windows and doors $58K 13.4%

Major Systems Rough-ins Plumbing and electrical (except fixtures), HVAC $82K 19.2%

Interior Finishes Insulation, drywall, interior trims, doors, mirrors, painting, lighting, cabinets and countertops, appliances, flooring, plumbing fixtures, fireplace $103K 24.1%

Final Steps Landscaping, outdoor structures (deck, patio, porches), driveway, clean up $28K 6.5%

Other - $9K 2.1%

Average Total Construction Costs - $428K 100.0%

The two initial stages—site work and foundations—together make up around 18% of the total construction costs. Framing and exterior finishes make up another 30%, costing around $71,000 and $58,000 per home, respectively.

Furthermore, rough-ins for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems account for nearly one-fifth of the total cost at over $82,000 per home. Rough-ins refer to the initial stages of installing these essential services, before fixtures and finishing touches.

Interior finishes—one of the final stages of construction—account for the largest share of costs at 24.1% (roughly $103,000). This reflects the wide range of fixtures and features that go into making a home livable, from flooring and lighting to appliances and cabinetry.

The finishing steps of home construction include landscaping, building outdoor structures, driveways, and post-construction clean-up.

The U.S. Housing Construction Market in 2025

The outlook for residential construction in 2025 looks constrained due to various factors.

According to NAHB, builder confidence remains relatively low due to higher material costs, with recent tariffs by the Trump administration threatening further cost increases.

Meanwhile, home construction starts have been relatively stable since 2021, but the number of new homes available for sale is at the highest level since 2010, suggesting a lack of demand for new housing amid high borrowing costs.

As affordability concerns persist, builders are employing price reductions and sales incentives (such as mortgage buydowns) to lure new buyers.

As you can clearly see the evil in the world is almost fifty-fifty, my word has shown you that before, so that should not be a surprise.  For I have said that two shall be standing in the field and one shall go and one shall remain, that is fifty-fifty, and it has got to that place, that also means that the end is very, very near.  So you will still have half of the world that desires to do evil and half of the world that desires to do good, but only about thirty percent are true Christians. etc.

First Male to Be Inducted Into the Women’s Hall of Fame

By M Dowling - April 2, 2025

Leftists are still trying to erase women. They can’t insult us enough. There are two genders, and one of them is not a trans woman.

Sandy Stone reportedly started the academic field of transgender studies. She is also a recording engineer, an artist, and the first known trans woman in the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a trans woman.

Around the end of this year, her story will be told in a documentary film.

Stone was inducted into the hall last year, along with several other prominent [Democrat] women, such as civil rights icon Ruby Bridges, tennis champion Serena Williams, and scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw. They are all Democrats, and Professor Crenshaw is a Marxist CRT proponent.

Adults can live as whatever gender they want, but what they are doing now is nuts.
